Live long and prosper...

My husband likes Star Trek. He watched it growing up.
We watched The Next Generation during our early years of marriage (good times, good memories).
We've seen all of the movies.
And we occasionally watch Star Trek related programming with our children now.

Saturday night we watched the new Star Trek movie--you know the one with the young, eye candy, Captain Kirk--and really liked it.

After the movie we all made the "Live long and prosper" sign. Well all of us but my dear (more treky than the rest of us) husband. It turns out he can't do this sign and never could.

When Marlee and I tried to tutor him on how to do it he said, "No. Really. You don't think I tried that for hours as a kid? I can't do it." If only I could have captured that moment on tape because it was hilarious. Marlee and I rolled (literally) with laughter, tears streaming down our faces, at the image of this poor boy trying so hard to be a Volcan only to fail time and again (especially the way he tells the story--FUNNY). Sorry, I'm sure this is one of those "You had to be there moments" but because I was there I wanted to write it down so I'd never forget. Good, good times.

Can you do the Volcan sign?
Am I even spelling Volcan right?
Have you had a really, really good laugh lately?
You should it's fun.

Aren't you grateful to have a family where laughter is such a key ingrediant? Just last night Ryan said something funny and Lauren shot pop out of her nose and all over her face. That made the whole thing even better!

I think it is Vulcan. :) And I grew up on Star Trek, too. (Older brothers.) We loved the new movie (we own it now) and have seen all the others. And it IS funny that Rick can't make the Vulcan sign--that is hilarious! Poor boy.

That is SO FUNNY!! I would of been rolling too. Never been a Strek Trex fan. But did see the new one & liked it.. You must not watch the show "Heros" that is Sylar in the show & boy has he been a huge evil guy..

Too funny!! I can do the Vulcan sign...but don't tell Rick; no need to make him feel worse! We're pretty big Star Trek fans here...loved the new movie! Although I was so bugged through half the movie trying to figure out where I'd seen Captain Kird before! Finally we realized he's Sir Nicholas in Princess Diaries 2! (Love that movie, too!) Thanks fo the good laugh...I haven't had one in a while.

I meant Captain Kirk, not Kird! And "for" not "fo". Being cooped up for days on end (snowed in) is starting to get to me!
