Lucky find...

Saturday morning I woke up and questioned, "Why should I give up everything I love just because I've moved to a small town?"

So I jumped in the car and headed out to find some yard sales. Woo-hoo! Only to be reminded of why I had given them up. Boo-hoo. There just isn't the same consumerism here that you'll find in the valley. People don't buy so they have nothing to sell. And yet they still try to sell their nothing which can be very depressing for treasure hunters like me.

And I was depressed. So very depressed.
Until...

I came across these old doors. Love them.
I put casters on them so they can be easily moved and hinged them together.

With these amazing old hinges. LOVE.

I also love the old paint encrusted doorknobs. SO COOL.

This one reminds me of the doorknobs in my Grandpa's house. LOVE.

And this one just makes me happy every time I look at it. Or move it around. It just begs to be moved back and forth. FUN.
Okay, so I guess it's not so bad here after all.
Sometimes.

Yay! I'm glad you found them. They look great. And no you should not give up what you love, it just might take a little more effort now.

Grandpa Johnson's house? Even before I saw your comment below the photo, I thought "that doorknob reminds me of the ones at Grandpa Johnson's house!"

I own a house built in 1938 to house the dam workers. We always say these houses weren't meant to last this long (because they were temporary housing) and we wonder why ours is still standing!! Despite all my house's shortcomings, I love my doors. They are the five panel shaker style doors with knobs & skeleton key holes similar to what you have found here. Also about a year or two ago, my aunt was remodeling my cousin's house and they put in new doors. I took the old ones home with me with plans of hinging three together and making a room divider or screen or whatever and sell them at a local craft show (among other things). Just like you have done here!! So bravo! I never did it. I decided I didn't have the time for that kind of crafty nonsense. :) And I don't have the space in my house. My rooms are small enough, no need to divide them even more!!! Glad you got an awesome yard sale find with such lovely knobs!!!
